Day 1 of 3: Modernism | Contemporary Art & Design
Featuring a selection from a major corporate collection, including works by Robert Natkin and Patrick Heron; recently deaccessioned works from the Minneapolis Institute of Art by Leonardo Nierman; and a group by Lee Gatch benefiting the Newark Museum of Art. Plus, offerings from important private collections. Highlights include Daisy Youngblood, Rafael Coronel, Rivane Neuenschwander, Charles Neal, Adam Fuss, Nancy Graves, Robert Nava, Sanya Kantarovsky, Joseph Beuys, Jesús Moroles, The Haas Brothers, and Porky Hefer. Fine modern furniture from a Carol Egan Interior Design Commission, Greenwich, CT, includes designers Holly Hunt, Luigi Caccia Dominioni, Helge Vestergaard Jensen, Charlotte Perriand, T.H. Robsjohn-Gibbings, Eric Schmitt Studio, Hans Wegner, Mark Brazier-Jones, and Christopher Guy. Also featured are a number of custom-designed furnishings from two important Manhattan commissions by legendary interior designers Mark Hampton and Billy Baldwin.
Day 2 of 3: Asian Art | American, British Art & Antiques | Silver Featuring an exciting array of newly deaccessioned pieces from the prestigious Minneapolis Institute of Art, including a large collection of English and American silver, highlighted by a rare Boston silver cup by Edward Winslow, c. 1680, and a selection of sterling tableware by celebrated English silversmith Paul Storr, among others. Museum offerings will also include a J.C. Brown Acorn clock, as well as a large number of Japanese and Korean art and ceramics, and a group of lithographs by Wanda Gág. Highlights also include an important group of American artworks deaccessioned from the Newark Museum of Art, and a collection of paintings by Raphael, Isaac, and Moses Soyer from the Saul Rosen Foundation Collections.
Day 3 of 3: Continental Art & Antiques | Carpets | Antiquities | Tribal Art Featuring decorative arts and fine carpets deaccessioned from the prestigious Minneapolis Institute of Art; furniture and decorative arts from the Laura Pels Collection, River House, NYC; and antiquities, African, and Oceanic art from the collection of Karl Stirner. Fine art highlights include works by Antoni Clavé, Jean Dufy, Fernand Léger (attributed), Charles Neal, Francesco Codino, Rubén Alpízar, a rare bronze by Sir Jacob Epstein, Jules-Cyrille Cave, and a healthy dose of Old Master drawings from Italy and the Continent, punctuated by a delicate sanguine drawing of a horse in the manner of Antonio Pisanello. Also featured is a Sèvres Louis Philippe Service de Table du Roi, a documented 18th-century Sèvres cup and saucer from the royal household of Marie Antoinette, a pair of Régence giltwood consoles from the Wrightsman Collections, an early 15th-century Italian majolica pitcher, ex-museum, an 18th-century Imperial Russian engraved and gilt glass goblet with a bust portrait of Empress Elizabeth Petrovna, and an extensive offering of Astier de Villatte ceramics.
