Day 1: Modern/Contemporary Art & Design
Featuring Contemporary Art from a Private Collection including major works by Adam Fuss, Eduardo Paolozzi, Daisy Youngblood, Donald Baechler, Tom Otterness, Susan Rothenberg and James Brown; Art and artifacts from the estate of legendary artist Philip Pearlman; Part II of the Collection of a Gentleman, including Modern and Contemporary design from a CPW penthouse. Items include period furniture by Jean-Michel Frank, Andre Sornay, Fontana Arte, and Ico Parisi, custom Contemporary designs by architect Annabell Seldorf, art glass and ceramics from Picasso to Peter Schlesinger, and a large group of rare modernist Georg Jensen silver. Other design highlights include works by Lucie Rie, Jean Royere, Karl Springer, Nakashima, and lighting by Emile-Jacque Ruhlmann, Arredoluce, and Maison Bagues.
Day 2: Asian Arts | American, British Art, Antiques | Native American Arts
Featuring property from the Estate of Barbara Walters, including objects acquired through a lifetime of travel, furnishings by Mario Buatta, dinnerware and silver serving pieces, and a library of signed books; a group of Tiffany Studios lamps from a private collection; Important American Chippendale furniture from a Southern estate; a selection of antique Navajo rugs and blankets from the Collection of Linn Howard Selby; and a large selection of Native American objects from various collections including Apache baskets and a Tlingit ceremonial blanket.
Day 3: Continental Art & Antiques | Carpets | Antiquities | African & Oceanic Arts | Books & Historical Letters
Featuring artwork spanning Old Masters to Post-Impressionism, including drawings from the circles of Bernini, Guercino, and Claude Lorraine; works from the collection of Peter Chau including Jean Metzinger, Camille Bombois, Julio Romero de Torres, as well as French Nouveau Art Glass from Galle, Daum, and Muller Freres. Other artworks include paintings by Courbet, Jean Lurcat, Jean Dufy, and Diego Rivera. A large collection of signed period Louis XVI furniture and decorative arts come from 710 Park Avenue, NYC and 550 Park Avenue, NYC, with many pieces having Christie’s and Sotheby’s provenance. 19th c. African and Oceanic art coming from the prestigious collections of Martin and Faith-Dorian Wright and the collection of Karl Stirner.
