Laura Pels (1931-2023) was a renowned benefactor for nonprofit theater through the Laura Pels International Foundation for Theater. which funded Playwrights Horizons and Roundabout Theater in Manhattan, the Brooklyn Academy of Music and the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts in Washington, in addition to providing grants and direct funding to theater arts institutions throughout the world.
