Day One: May 17 (lots 1001-1419) - Modern/Contemporary Art & Design | African & Oceanic Arts
Day 1 features two Contemporary Art collections with over 40 major works from international cutting-edge artists, such as Kendall Geers, Minerva Cuevas, Vic Muniz, and Cornelia Parker. Other Modern art highlights include a Jeff Koons balloon dog, Picasso prints and ceramics, and art photography by renowned artists like William Wegman, Richard Avedon, Carrie Mae Weems, and Irving Penn. Design highlights showcase over 10 pieces from a Vladimir Kagan furnished interior, and rare French Art Deco and Secessionist pieces, including JM Frank and Josef Hoffmann from the collection of a Media Executive. A one-of-a-kind Frank O. Gehry custom Fender guitar is also featured, along with African and Oceanic Tribal Arts.
Day Two: May 18 (lots 2001-2371) - Asian Arts | American, British Art & Antiques | Native American | Books & Historical Letters
Day 2 presents Asian Arts with over 100 Chinese artworks, spanning ancient Neolithic to modern works. Highlights include a Yuan celadon jade carving and a contemporary scroll by Peng Wei. English Georgian furnishings sold to benefit the Rosenbach Museum include pieces attributed to William France and Thomas Chippendale. Art from Charles Sigety's Collection features oils by J.C. Leyendecker and Dean Cornwell. Native American arts include Navajo blankets and Zuni and Tlingit artifacts. The exhibition also features historical documents such as an 18th-century copy of the Declaration of Independence and early aviation works.
Day Three: May 19 (lots 3001-3305) - Continental Art & Antiques | Carpets | Antiquities | Jewelry & Silver
Day 3 highlights Continental Art and Antiques, including Louis XV and XVI furniture signed by renowned ebenistes, as well as Spanish and Portuguese Colonial items. European decorative arts showcase glass by Galle and Lalique and Rozenburg eggshell porcelains. Artworks include oil paintings by Pierre Andrieu, Pierre Carrier-Belleuse, and Aleksie Gritchenko,and etchings by Durer and Rembrandt. Antiquities encompass Pre-Columbian figures, Roman glass, and Egyptian artifacts. Fine carpets sold to benefit the Rosenbach Museum and an impressive collection of fine jewelry and antique gold coins are also displayed, concluding with garden furniture curated by Peter Marino.
